Leigh Fishing Contest Inc - Rules:
THESE RULES PERTAIN TO OUR 2019 EVENT, AND MAY BE SUBJECT TO CHANGE IN 2020. PLEASE CHECK THESE RULES AGAIN PRIOR TO THE COMPETITION IN 2020.
All entries must be paid for and tickets collected before weigh in. Ticket numbers are limited. To ensure entry purchase tickets before commencing fishing. Each purchase of a ticket is deemed to be acceptance of these rules.
Is entirely the responsibility of each angler, skipper and/or crew. No safety responsibility will be accepted by the Leigh Fishing Contest Inc and organisers under any circumstances.
Contestants participate in the contest at their own risk. The Leigh Fishing Contest Inc and organisers do not accept any liability whatsoever for any damage to property, personal injury or loss incurred during, prior to or after the contest.
Commence from 3am Saturday 16 March 2019 up to weigh-in.
Marine Reserves and local area restrictions (as charted) must be strictly observed. Otherwise no limit on fishing area.
FISHING LINES & CATCH:
No longlines or nets permitted. Fish Regulations strictly apply to line and minimum sizes. Note: Kingfish minimum length is 75cm.
Weigh in is at Leigh Hall from 1.00pm to 3.30pm on 16 March 2019. Be in the queue by 3.30pm to be in the weigh-in! ABSOLUTELY NO SHARKS OR STINGRAYS will be weighed in. Each angler must weigh in their own fish and present their ticket– no exceptions. LIMITED to 1 fish per category, per angler.
NOTE: in the Snapper, Kahawai, Trevally and Kingfish sections there are 2 prizes available and so each angler may weigh up to 2 of each of those species and be eligible for either or both prize categories. Only whole fish caught in the fishing time stipulated will be weighed. Weigh-in Master’s decisions are final and no discussion will be entered into.
OWNERSHIP OF FISH:
All fish weighed in will become the property of the Leigh Fishing Contest Inc and auctioned during the day for fundraising.
Each contestant is limited to one prize per weighed prize division. In the case of a tie for any senior prize category, a draw will be held at the prize giving. Each contestant with the tied weight will be given a number. The last number drawn shall win the prize. Junior prize-giving commences about 5.30pm on 16 March 2019. Senior prize-giving commences about 6pm. Junior category applies to anglers 14 years of age and under. No prizes are exchangeable for cash.
LUCKY TICKET DRAWS are open to all senior ticket holders (whether you fished or not) and will be drawn at the prize giving. All prize winners must be present and show this ticket to claim a prize.
The event will not be postponed or cancelled. In the event of adverse weather, or if no fish are caught prizes will be allocated to Lucky Ticket Draws.
(1) Snapper: 1st and 2nd heaviest plus average weight.
(2) Kingfish: heaviest and average weight.
(3) Kahawai: heaviest and average weight.
(4) Trevally: heaviest and average weight.
(5) John Dory: heaviest.
(6) Other fin fish: heaviest.
(7) Female Angler: heaviest fish.
(1) Snapper: heaviest and average weight.
(2) Kahawai: heaviest and average weight.
(3) Trevally: heaviest and average weight.
(4) Sprat: heaviest.
(5) Most unusual fish.
By participating in this contest you agree that in the event you win a major prize you will allow your photo and/or interview comments to be used in any publicity as may be undertaken by the organisers.
Any attempt to falsify or deceive the organisers/adjudicators will result in your entry being declared null and void. No refunds will be made and no prizes will be awarded in such cases.
By entering this contest you agree to be bound by and abide each of the conditions contained herein.
